On behalf of the ladies group at Westwood Golf Club, I warmly welcome all existing and future
members and visitors to a new golfing year.
I joined the club in June 2018 as a complete beginner and with no sporting background. In fact, I was
the one who was always picked last for school teams. Westwood ladies took me out on the course
and at first, I found just connecting with the ball very difficult. I missed 9/10 shots off the tee and
had very limited success on the fairway. Safe to say, I owe my love for the sport to our very patient,
friendly and supportive group of ladies who encouraged me to stick with it and promised me that I
would improve with practice. Fast forward to 2021, and I am very pleased to say that my golf did
improve, and it has taken over my life. It is an honour and a pleasure to be able to give something
back to Westwood ladies by taking on the role of Lady Captain. My knowledge of the golfing world is
still limited, but I am a fast learner and with the support of my golfing friends, I look forward to an
exciting and successful year.
Westwood Golf Club has something for everyone: 18 varied and challenging holes, beautiful views of
the Staffordshire Moorlands, a full calendar of social events and competitions throughout the year
and a modern clubhouse. Our competition diary runs from April to October and includes friendly
matches against other local clubs, mixed golf events, a Spring open and many opportunities to
introduce guests to the course.
I look forward to promoting the ladies group and all that Westwood Golf Club has to offer, including
its charitable work. This year, I will work hard to support The Papyrus Charity which provides help
and support to young people contemplating suicide. Westwood ladies are always looking for new
members so whether you are an experienced golfer or a complete beginner, a warm welcome awaits
you. If I can do it, you can! Please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Here’s to a successful and enjoyable season!
